TELEVISION
Scotland's Big Night Out
broadcast on Hogmanay 2017 BBC1 Scotland We all love a spot of nostalgia at New Year don't we? I was delighted to be part of this show, romping through the decades to explore Scotlands changing relationships with going out, and staying in. Presented by Iain Sinclair (the voice of Love Island), the section I was involve in looked at the 70s phenomenon of dinner parties - including the weird and wonderful food, drinks and fashions that were all part of the fun. I talk about Pineapple Hedgehogs, Baked Bananas in Ham and Cheese Sauce, 'lovely' ladies on beer cans and make Iain the 'King of Cocktails' - a Snowball. How 70s was that! RADIO
Chiles on Friday
BBC Radio 5 Live I joined television celebrity chef, cookbook author and restuaranter Allegra McEvedy to discuss all things Fanny Cradock on the Adrian Chiles show. We had fun chatting about Fanny's return to the BBC iPlayer, her contribution to television cooking, the Gwen Troake incident... oh and those Mincemeat Omelettes! The programme is available to listen to on the BBC iPlayer here |
The Kitchen Cafe
BBC Radio Scotland I was lucky enough to join The Kitchen Café crew a few times to discuss my love of Fanny Cradock, retro foods, homemade edible Christmas gifts and cocktails... It was great fun - I enjoyed the reactions and support on Twitter afterwards to from people who had tuned in, from all round the world! The programmes are available on the BBC iPlayer here |
The Kaye Adams Show
BBC Radio Scotland I joined Kaye Adams one rainy morning in Glasgow to chat about my blog Keep Calm and Fanny On, how it all started, food colourings, strange 70s food and my love of Fanny... The clip is available here |
DAILY RECORD
The delightful Anna Burnside persuaded me to chat to her about my blog Keep Calm and Fanny On for her piece in the Food and Drink section of the Daily Record. Anna really understood the camp but celebratory tone that Fanny Cradock struck, and it was a joy to talk to her about my blog. I'm just surprised she was able to print as many innuendos, not to mention my photos recreating Fanny Cradock's food, in a national newspaper! The article is available here |
Foodies Magazine
November 2017 To coincide with my appearance at the Christmas Foodies Festival in Edinburgh with my adorable friend Charlotte White of Restoration Cake Foodies Magazine asked me to submit a recipe. I adapted Fanny Cradock's famous and seasonal Bûche de Noël for the occasion - it went down well at the Festival with the crowd enjoying it afterwards. I was thrilled to appear in print alongside such top talent in teh world of food - and I'm sure Fanny herself wold be chuffed. The issue is available here |
Vintage Life Magazine
January 2017 Celebrating all things retro and vintage, Vintage Life magazine is the place to indulge in all your retro needs. I interviewed my fabulous friend, and modern day Fanny Cradock, Charlotte White of Restoration Cake for the January 2017 edition. Charlotte really is a Fanny-fan too - she even dressed up as Fanny for the photo shoot. It was incredibly good fun to collaborate with Charlotte and to see our work in print together!
